Bug Hunting.
Items Required: Bug Net
Items Obtained: gralats
Items Obtained: gralats
Bug hunting is another way to earn gralats. However, it is probably the slowest way to get gralats unless you are really good at catching bugs. This page will walk through the whole process of bug hunting. If you do not have the bug net, then read the "Tools" page under the Beginner section.
Catching Bugs.
Obviously you just swing your net and catch bugs, right? It's more complicated than that. The bug's hit box must be inside your net's range the instant you swing it. But your net is really tiny, and the bug is really tiny. So it's like playing basketball with a ring and a marble. To the left is a diagram of your net's reach.
The red grid outlines Graal's tiles (each is 16x16px). However, the net does not fit exactly to the tile grid. When you swing up or down, your net has a 24x24px box (blue) and reaches almost 2 whole tiles (32px) in front of you. Swinging left or right also reaches 2 whole tiles, but the hit box is only 24x16px. So it is easier to catch bugs when swinging up or down.
The green area is the rod, which is not included as part of the net's hit box. The bug must be entirely inside the blue area. The green area is the distance between you and the net's hit box. Left and right reaches further than up or down. The rod reaches 8px left and right, 6px down swing, and only 4px up swing.
Hints: It's probably easiest to swing down. You just have to stand directly behind the bug with a half-tile between you (aim for the shadow if it's a butterfly). Swinging up is also easy. If you have a hat on that mostly covers your net, then you swing when the bug is covered by your hat.

List of Bugs by Class and Rarity.
Note: There is in-game information about bugs in the Swamp Town Library. However, it sometimes doesn't get updated...
And another thing about bug hunting in general: Bugs are seasonal, meaning they only appear during specific months. So spring and summer are the best bug hunting times, while winter is pretty empty. There are very few year-round bugs.

Butterfly Class:
Butterflies usually all appear in similar areas. They generally spawn over areas with water or trees. Of course they can fly over areas you cant reach, so they spend most of the time flying over these areas. You have to be patient for them to get back to where you can get them. Good butterfly spots include MoD Town, Onnet Town, Master Li's Forest, York Town, and southern Destiny.
Flying Class:
Flying bugs that are not butterflies.
Ground Class:
Bugs that are caught on the ground, under the ground, or between two trees.
Selling Bugs.
Note: If there are some bugs that you do not want to sell, you can set them free in your player house or guild house. Equip the item from your inventory, and use it in your house. You can have up to 25 bugs in one level. If you want to sell them later, you will have to re-catch them. But don't worry, other people cannot steal your bugs. And if you use the bug jar item outside your house, it will not set free. I suggest setting rare bugs free in your house.
Anyway, we're finally going to make some gralats with this. Head over to Swamp Town, and there is a red treehouse near the entrance. Inside is Beryl the Witch, also Serena's sister. She will buy your bugs to infuse into her potions.
To sell bugs, hold up the jar anywhere in the treehouse. You can sell all of that type at once, or one at a time. I did not list the bug prices above because they changed once or twice in the past. Bugs are priced based on rarity and difficulty to catch.
Be sure to go talk to Beryl. She will tell you what bug she specifically needs today. This changes everyday and is random. Beryl will pay you 1.5x the normal price for a "bug-of-the-day." I suggest only selling the bug-of-the-day since it is worth 50% more than usual.
